The DDMC is sponsoring a benefit to send severely burned children to Champ Camp, which is run by the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF), known for promoting the "Stop, drop and roll" technique. Champ Camp is a week-long residential summer camp experience that provides a supportive atmosphere in which a child can feel at ease and have fun! The child has an opportunity to meet others who have gone through a similar experience and to realize he/she is not alone with their injury. It spotlights a person's "inner beauty" not the burn scars. Camp is available to all young burn survivors in California ages 5-16 (with a special Counselor-In-Training program for survivors ages 17-20). Camp is held in June.
